Static pickling, also called static pipeline conditioning, exposes an isolated natural-gas pipeline segment to odorant under controlled conditions. The project team defines isolation, pressure control, exposure, monitoring, sampling, acceptance, and turnover requirements.


Closed-Loop Static Pickling Objective

The system is configured to keep gas and odorant within the closed-loop project equipment. This can reduce planned atmospheric releases, but actual emissions depend on connections, equipment condition, procedures, abnormal events, and project execution and should not be represented as zero under every circumstance.
